Vertigo
Sorry for no Shippon This week. I was working on it and was struck by some terrible vertigo. The world is still spinning 2 days later. I went to first the urgent care yesterday then they passed me off to the emergency room at the hospital. They were able to treat the awful nausea that had me puking nonstop for the first 24 hours but the spins are still a problem 2 days in. Good news is it isn’t a brain tumor or stroke, just something wrong with my inner ear, but not much that can be done. I am taking sea sickness meds to help but still can’t really focus on what I am writing right now.
I will update you all as things develop. I already have Zoe done so it should post like normal this week. HOpefully this will be completely gone by then…
*hugs* I hope you feel better soon
Sounds like something a co-worker once had years ago. Some of the fluid in the inner ear crystallized; the crystals sloshed around and reported imbalance signals to the brain. The eyes couldn’t confirm that so the brain basically “crashed”.
Get well soon.
Here is hoping it resolves quickly!
Being “drunk” without the fun of actually drinking ain’t fun. I have vertigo too, and it definitely isn’t any fun.
How often do you get it? Before this big one I would get it maybe 4 times a year and each time it would pass in a minute. This time it is almost a week and still am not 100% back to normal. I think I must have an inner ear infection or something to keep it lasting so dang long. At least now I can do everything but drive without too much hassle, I definitely can’t drive though, was a passenger today and the bumps in the road sent my eyes bouncing and couldn’t see any details.
My first and worst bout was about 15 years ago,and I spent 3 weeks “drunk”. These days I’ll get a little dizzy laying on my back, or bending over, but I haven’t had a bad bout in years. The last bad bout was a decade ago or more, I felt something snap in my head as I got ready to go to work, and got about halfway there when the world was spinning too fast to drive. I called in sick, and limped halfway home hugging the shoulder of the road, and my wife came to pick me up.
Sounds a lot worse than mine, It was only about 6 days for me with dizzies, still feel the world spin a bit when turn head quickly but bearable. Tried driving for first time yesterday, pulling out of the driveway was hard with turning to back out, but once on the road it wasn’t bad, just felt a little nauseous
Hope I can go at least a decade before ever having it happen again though.
